Round-Up Signs Agreement with Pendleton Woolen Mills

PENDLETON —The Pendleton Round-Up and Pendleton Woolen Mills and Hood River Distillers have agreed to a unique three-way partnership of Oregon based entities. The three have signed a licensing agreement that allows Pendleton Woolen Mills to design, produce and market apparel, blankets and home products using the Pendleton Round-Up logo and the Let‘er Buck slogan. There will also be items in the collection that feature the popular Pendleton Whisky logo from Hood River Distillers.

The agreement crosses over notable milestones for both Pendleton Woolen Mills (the 2009 celebration of the 100th anniversary of the company in Pendleton, Oregon) and the Pendleton Round-Up Association (the 2010 celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Pendleton Round-Up). “It is rare in the life of a brand that such an opportunity comes around,” says Mort Bishop III, President of Pendleton. “Pendleton has been associated with the Round-Up since its very first event in 1910; we have grown up together over these 100 years.”

“All of us at Round-Up are extremely excited about our partnership with Pendleton Woolen Mills and it couldn't happen at a better time,” says Dennis Hunt, publicity director, Pendleton Round- Up. “The Mills' promotion of this program will give Round-Up national exposure that we otherwise would not have been able to gain. Both organizations are gearing up for their 100th anniversaries, which makes this partnership even more special."

"We're very proud of our long-lasting relationship with Pendleton Woolen Mills and pleased with this licensing agreement,” says Butch Thurman, president, Pendleton Round-Up. "I can't think of a better company than Pendleton with their high quality apparel, to utilize our logo as we approach the Centennial celebration."

The full lifestyle collection is set to debut in January 2008 and will be available at retail in June 2008. The blankets are woven in the Pendleton Woolen Mills location in Pendleton, Oregon, and will be available this September 2007 in time for Round-Up. Each year a commemorative suede label will list the names of the Round-Up President, Queen, Westward Ho! Parade Grand Marshal and Happy Canyon President.

Pendleton products are available at select department, specialty stores, and more than 70 Pendleton retail stores nationwide. Pendleton merchandise can also be ordered online at the company’s Website (www.pendleton-usa.com) or in Pendleton’s seasonal catalogs. Order Toll Free 1-800-649-1512.

The Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon is held the second full week of September in Pendleton, Ore. The Round-Up began in 1910 and is recognized as one of the oldest and most prestigious rodeos in the world and won the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s 2003 Large Outdoor Rodeo Committee of the Year Award. The Happy Canyon Night Show is a colorful display of Indian pageantry and tradition and takes place every night of Round-Up. A week full of activities, including parades, concerts, PBR bull-riding competition, barbecues, dances, gambling and numerous other events begin Saturday, Sept. 8th and continue through Saturday, Sept. 15th.
