PENDLETON, Ore. – Randy Severe was elected president of the Pendleton Round-Up at the annual stockholder’s meeting held Tuesday night November 25th in the Let ‘er Buck room at the Pendleton Round-Up Grounds. Severe takes over for out-going president Butch Thurman. Kevin Hudson was re-elected vice president.
Severe said he was excited about the future.
“I am very happy to be in this position,” Severe said. “I never dreamed I’d have the opportunity, but here I am and I’m very proud and I’m really looking forward to the year ahead. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but with the great men we have on the board we can get it done.”
In his out-going president’s message, Thurman reported that Round-Up was a success again this year, with ticket sales up by about 1% over the previous year. “With last summer’s gas prices and the current state of our economy, I would say that is very encouraging.”
Thurman said he was pleased that the directors stayed within their budgets, and he complimented some of the sub-committees for their hard work this year. Thurman cited the Long Range Planning Committee for their continuing efforts with the stadium expansion project.
